Lenten studies

The Lenten Season has officially begun and and we are excited for how God will transform us over these next 40 days. It is our prayer that you will develop a greater passion to know God (reference: Philippians 3:10-11, NKJV). Below you will find several resources to help you along this journey from Ash Wednesday to Resurrection Sunday.

2021 fasting & Prayer pamphlet

Our fasting period begins Wednesday, February 17, 2021, through Saturday, April 3, 2021. The fasting time is from 6a.m. to 6p.m daily, Monday through Saturday. Download the 2021 Pamphlet for details on this year's fast, guidance on how and why we fast, and words of encouragement.

Lenten Prayers

Prayer is the essential partner of fasting. Our prayers this Lenten season are to reflect on holiness, love and forgiveness, obedience, transformation and spiritual healing. For those who may need a little help or jump start, the following prayers may be of assistance. There is no particular order for lifting up these petitions to the lord our god. Let the Holy Spirit be your guide.

Lenten devotional

This year, we are inviting the JMBC body to join together for a church wide reading plan through Psalms 119 and the book of John. We will begin reading 8 verses daily of Psalms 119 in the New King James and Message Bible Translations and end reading 1-2 chapters per day in the Book of John.

Prayerfully, we hope that you will use this guide for yourself and share it with someone else.  Also, if you choose, find a partner to join you on this Lenten Season journey to encourage you to passionately seek God.
